May 1-2, Saturday/Sunday, Day 52/53

We went to Historic James Towne (original spelling), the first permanent English settlement dating from 1607. It was amazing to walk where they walked. In the picture below you can see the layout of the site. The last remaining original structure is the red brick church tower. Inside the church you can view the original foundation of the building through glass panels.

There is a museum on site displaying items that have been excavated from the site. Tools, shoes, pottery, game pieces were found and some of them inside an old well which they turned into a garbage dump!

On Sunday we were tired! Had church in the RV, made french toast for breakfast. Took it easy! We went to a laundromat-the air conditioning was broken and it was 95 degrees with dryers running. Not fun! Picked Greg up at the airport and had dinner in Richmond. We kept busy while he was gone.
